The solution was to create a college organization on campus for students who have visual disabilities and provide them with resources that will help them excel in and outside of classes.
Provide students with a physical space that is comfortable and private.
Help students advocate for themselves when it comes to their accessibility needs.
Provide additional tools and resources to help manage mental health and
social anxiety.
Pupils for Purpose is a response to the pressing challenge of accessibility in higher education. Our mission is clear: to create an inclusive environment where every student feels empowered and supported. Specifically focused on addressing the needs of visually impaired students, Pupils for Purpose is dedicated to ensuring they receive the resources and accommodations they deserve to thrive.
Colleges and Universities are being sued for accessibility. 15 – 43% of students who report their disabilities don’t receive accommodation from their school. This hinders students’ ability to perform at the same level as their peers who don’t have disabilities and hinders the development of essential social and emotional skills.
The Pupils for Purpose logo is created out of the typeface Co Headline. Co Headline was created by Dalton Maag.
Co Headline uses rounded type to display a clean and friendly look; It's also very open and easy to read.
Throughout the beginning design process, I received feedback about the logo. I liked the idea of having an owl be the face of pupils for purpose as well as the logo but on the other hand, I had the idea of the pair of glasses and it seemed to fit more with the theme and subject matter. With my feedback received, I redefined color schemes and added a small range of typography to be used for brand cohesiveness.
